Primitive Spark is a boutique interactive agency in downtown Los Angeles. We’ve won our share of awards for websites and mobile apps, and we’re increasingly becoming known for designing distinctive software interfaces and data visualizations.  It’s our privilege to work with great clients in many categories, but we can’t keep up with all the work coming in.  We need your help.

We seek an Interface Designer with 1 – 3 years of experience and a great portfolio. To qualify you must have experience designing data visualizations, complex application interfaces or similar work. We’ll consider recent graduates with strong student portfolios, but you should also have some work experience in this area. You will report to our Creative Director in downtown Los Angeles.

Opportunities include freelance or part time to start with the potential for a full time position if we work well together. Pay is competitive based on experience. A great working environment and team to work with at our office downtown, with the possibility of working from home occasionally as well.

Requirements

-         Conceptual thinker who can bring big ideas into our work;

-         Great listener who can solve problems with design;

-         Self-motivated to continuously learn and try new things;

-         Collaborative, open-minded and comfortable participating in critiques;

-         Trained in design principles: color, typography, layout, etc;

-         Strong knowledge of interaction design principles;

-         Detail-oriented, even under tight time constraints;

-         Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator;

-         Working knowledge of HTML and Flash;

-         A digital portfolio with at least five relevant work samples;
-         Able to work in our downtown LA office;

-         Bachelors degree or higher in design or visual arts-related field.



Preferences (not required, but helpful)

-         Proficient in HTML and Flash;

-         Experience with a prototyping tool such as Axure;

-         1+ years of work experience in a similar position;
-         Ability to write and present effectively.
